Thoughts on B2B Vs. B2C
What target market should you be aiming for with your new business
To get someone to pay you $42USD each month for something means that you have to provide a lot of value to a consumer, or sell to a business.
*Why $42USD? Because, our goal here is to create 1 or several $5k/month businesses. A rather simple way of putting it is: Find 10 customers to pay you $42USD each month and after a year you have 120 customers paying you $5k/ month. Rinse and repeat.

Selling to a business is much easier to begin with because if it’s not a big purchase that has to go through several layers of approval, then it usually gets approved at the first layer. Many times a business will pay much more than $42 for something that provides value to them, it doesn’t even have to provide that much value to them to get those $42 by the way.
If you sell to a consumer just keep in mind that to squeeze $42 USD out of someone you need to be targeting the upper-middle class, and you need to provide a lot of value. Netflix charges $15USD last time I checked, and they give you literally thousands of movies and series for that price. So, you know, maybe circle back to selling to businesses. Yes, consumer is much sexier and can become viral and all of that, but if that is your goal, then the venture capital route might be your thing. There’s nothing wrong with that, it’s just not the same as we are trying to accomplish here.
If you want to target consumers, then perhaps lowering the price point and selling to more customers is more doable. However, it does mean finding more customers each month…
Cheerio old sport,
